The vision of Common Threads is to recycle and reuse the storied material items from our community and help them find new homes, specifically homes that could never have afforded them otherwise.
Common Threads
Over 10 years ago The Family Center had a vision to transform community donations of clothes and household items into something that could create powerful lasting impact in the community. Out of this dream to offer families struggling with poverty inexepensive ways to furnish their homes, and easy access to clothes and other housegoods, Common Threads was born.
Through your donations Common Threads has been able to donate almost $500,000 back to the community, while offering meaningful work to many who live on a fixed income. Common Threads sells clothes and housewares, but that's all secondary-the real work is the lives impacted as we find our common mission together.
Shopping, Donating and Volunteering
Location
We are located at 107A Wayne St Columbia. Look for our storefront window, and remember there is additional parking around the back.
Donation Times
We accept donations Tuesday through Friday 10:00 to 4:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 1:00. Donations are accepted in the back of the building off Penny Ave.
Shopping Times
Common Threads is open for shopping Tuesday through Friday 9:00-5:00 and Saturday 9:00-2:00.
Volunteer
We love to have volunteers! We need folks to sort and price all the donations we receive!
Donations
We love to receive your donations! We take almost everything, please make sure they are clean and in working condition
Furniture
We can accept all types of furniture, big or small. The only items we cannot accept are mattresses and hospital beds
Clothing and shoes
We will take all new or gently used clean clothing. In season or out of season
Household items
Pictures, frames, dishes, decorations, holiday items, books, toys, lamps and electronics. We take it all except old "bubble back" Tv's.
